In the right circumstances, a dental implant can sometimes be placed at the same appointment as a tooth extraction. For suitable patients, that can mean fewer surgical procedures, fewer appointments and a shorter journey towards restoring your smile. The important part is making sure it’s the right decision, not simply the quickest one.
The health of the surrounding bone, the condition of the tooth being removed, and your overall oral health all play an important part in deciding whether it’s the best option.
We’ll carry out a thorough assessment before making any recommendations. If immediate implant treatment is right for you, we’ll explain why. If allowing the area to heal first is likely to give you a better long-term result, we’ll explain that too. Our priority is always achieving the best outcome, even if it means taking a little longer.
Every treatment plan is individually designed, so we’ll only recommend immediate implant placement when we’re confident it’s the right approach.

No. Immediate implant treatment depends on several factors, including the condition of the surrounding bone and gums. We’ll assess your suitability during your consultation.
Yes, if immediate implant placement is appropriate, the implant can often be placed during the same appointment as the tooth extraction.
Many patients are able to leave with a temporary restoration while the implant heals. Your dentist will explain what’s appropriate for your individual treatment plan.
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout.
